Photographers Comment: This
is the first half of the Ingleton Waterfall Trail when started from the car
park. The whole trail takes between 2-4 hours to complete depending on how fast
you stroll. For photographers it could take longer if you stop to take photos at
every opportunity. It makes a great day out.
During the summer months they now
have a cafe at the end of this trail and start of the next. If you visit at any
other time remember to take food and drink with you, and make sure you have the
correct clothing with you as the weather could change.
It is beautiful walk and this part of it has the
largest of the waterfalls on the whole route, although a smaller number than the
next part along the River Doe. Take a look at our links below for details on
each of them on this route.
Watch out for wildlife opportunities as well as the falls, on this part. Our
visit was in January and even then we saw a Heron both at the waters edge and
flying around, while at Thornton Force we also spied a Robin as you can see in
the photo in this collection. It got very close, I sat on the bench and it
landed first on the wall behind it, and then it was scurrying around my feet and
I took a number of other images from this position, but I didn't want to overdo
it here. Walking across the fields/hills from one valley to the other there were
sheep in the fields. |
